An update from Tripology
This week started out as a very difficult one for me. I had to tell my great team that our newest investor had decided not to fund the company as agreed in December and, as a result, we were all, effective immediately, out of a job. The team was as shocked as I was just 48 hours earlier. We all wondered how this could be, especially coming off the best gross profit month we’d ever had. Clearly we had turned the corner after all our hard work and just couldn’t imagine why this was happening. Immediately I shared my view with the team that I didn’t have the time nor the inclination to worry about all the “why?” questions. Rather I had to find a new investor. That is exactly what I’ve been doing all week, with laser focus, nearly around the clock.
If you know me, you know I’m a big fan of social media and the transparency it offers. As such, I’ve been open an honest about what’s going on.
I’m in the middle of some very interesting conversations with some wonderful companies about investing in Tripology. Some can move more quickly than others. Clearly, in this case, speed is of the essence. Obviously, I can’t go into detail on each conversation, but I’m happy with the progress. Of course, nothing is sure until the check is in the bank. Further, as we know now, nothing is sure until ALL the checks are in the bank.
The site is still up and generating leads. Travel professionals with free or paid credits can continue to buy leads.
I did want to say thank you to the hundreds (literally) of people who sent us emails and posted positive comments on various chat rooms. The outpouring of support has been amazing and means so much to all of us at Tripology as well as our families. I promise I’m doing as much as I can and as fast as I can to try and make something happen.
I’ve also received countless emails, notes and calls from people asking if I was okay. I reassured them I was as well as could be expected and that the life of an entrepreneur is not always easy, but I’ve been doing it most of my life. I will share with you a quick story about last night. I arrived home to my beautiful three year old daughter (my son was already sleeping) who greeted me with open arms, a big hug and kiss. When she said “I missed you Daddy. How are you?” I responded that I had a tough week at work and that I was sad. She then asked “Did you cry?” and I told her I had not. She said “That’s good Daddy, you have to be brave… like Barney.” Leave it to a three year old to sum up life in one sentence. Check back soon.
Best,
John

John,
Your integrity and honestly will attract the right investor. Don’t give up! Can I get my credits for the GOGO bookings?
Best regards,
Randy
I was as shocked and saddened by the news this week as anyone. As part of a more boutique home-based agency, one of my challenges has been to find a way to connect our Specialist’s expertise with the traveling consumers. We’ve been dabbling with Tripology for nearly a year, and even though we’ve purchased numerous qualified leads that have developed into nice sales for our Specialists, I’d have to say that the best part of Tripology has been the validation that you’ve given to our business strategy. We know putting our focus on our Specialists, helping them to continue their educations and then marketing their expertise. Tripology, and your blogs/tweets in particular, have helped us build our brand and expand our client base. I’m confident that the book is not closed on Tripology, and I can’t wait for the next chapter. Have a great weekend with that sensible little girl and the rest of your family!
Hi John,
Wishing you best of luck.

Thank you for keeping up informed John. Yes, it is the simple things that are most important. I am learning that myself and from the children, it is much more pertinent.

John:
I’m sorry to hear that you and the company are having a tough go. This is a nerve-wracking time for all of us who work in entrepreneurial companies.
We are rooting for you. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance.
Steve
Just keep moving!!! You’ll get it back on track…. Be well and spend more time with the little ones. They can be a major help in times like these. If there’s anything I can do for you just let me know.
Dear John,
I don’t know how other agents reacted to the news, but I have to tell you my immediate thought was “how is this going to affect my business”. Answer, badly. So, for selfish reasons I hope you get funding soon and as one entrepreneur to another I wish you the best of luck and quick solutions.

Hello. I have read the update and been advised what is currently going on with the company–my sincere heartfelt concern for you and your position as well. I just want to know if there is ANY way to determine at this point if it appears that any time soon Tripology will open it back up for Agents to add funds to purchase leads? I love the site and don’t want to look at other lead purchase companies, but may have to. Do you ‘forecast’ days? weeks? or longer for things to unfold. Or perhaps is it possible that the current lead purchase program may no longer exists?
I would truly welcome your honest suggestion and opinion.
Thank you,
O. Lee Pettyjohn
Hello John, I am truly sorry about what happened to Tripology. I have purchased leads in the past year and I plan to do so again when you have secured new investors. If I should win the lottery I will invest (LOL) if that would every happen. Keep you daughters words in you mind and heart and best of luck.
